The Office of Development and Properties assists the Catholics of the Diocese to:

1. support the ministries of the Catholic Church in southern Missouri, and
2. exercise good stewardship of the diocese's existing physical assets.

The Director is responsible for communicating the role and importance of the diocesan annual fund appeal(known as the Diocesan Development Fund-DDF) to the ministries carried on at the diocesan and parish levels. Additionally, the Director seeks ways to provide Catholics interested in making special gifts to the Church such as through bequests or other planned giving arrangements. In this area he is assisted by the Diocesan Office of Planned Giving.

In the second area the Director is responsible for insuring that applicable Church and Civil law is followed on all issues relating to management of Church assets. New construction, renovation, contracts, sales and purchases of property, capital campaigns, and insurance issues are among the primary areas of management or oversight.
